My Research Interests

During my master period, I used to study the mechanisms of summer hypoxia and its response to anthropogenic perturbations in riverine inputs from the Pearl River system, China. To archieve this study purpose, I used a physical-biogeochemical model with a so-called DO-species tracing method.

During this PhD period, I am working on the carbon export in the Gulf of Mexico and the Northwest Atlantic by using a data assimilative physical-biogeochemical model (based on ROMS). Data assimilation is applied:

1) to estimate the key biological parameters via the Evolutionary algorithm. The relative importance of satellite ocean color data and BGC-Argo floats data are also investigated.

2) to update the model state estimates through the Deterministic Ensemble Kalman Filter (DEnKF) by assimilating both physical and biological observations.
