My Research Interests

My research is focused on the spring phytoplankton bloom in the North Atlantic (or, more generally, mid to high ocean latitudes), with a goal of analyzing it as a mechanism of carbon export. This will be treated by using data from bio-optic equipped free-drifting floats (Argo floats). A 1D Nutrient-Phytoplankton-Zooplankton-Detritus (NPZD) model is used in conjunction with this data by forcing the physical parameters, and performing optimization on the model using the biological quantities.

Other Interests

I grew up in Halifax and have lived on the east coast all my life. I love living in Halifax and being able to go out to see live music or go to the farmer's market every week. I enjoy being active in my spare time, doing things like cycling, playing hockey, or curling. My favourite things are coffee, pens, and graphs. My current projects are photography and turning my Raspberry Pi into something neat.
