My Research Interests

I recently finished my PhD at Dalhousie, which was focused on the plankton ecology of Lunenburg Bay—an inlet of the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia—in particular the relationship between plankton variability and the occurrence of upwelling events during the summer. For this project, fieldwork was carried out in 2006 and high frequency data were collected at a coastal observatory for the period 2002-2007. A series of models were developed, from a 0D plankton ecosystem model to a nested biological-physical modelling system of Lunenburg Bay and the Scotian Shelf using ROMS.

For my post-doctorate, I currently investigate the occurrence and the effects of phosphate limitation on phytoplankton in the "dead zone" area of the northern Gulf of Mexico (Mississipi region) using ROMS.

Other Interests

In an ideal world my hobby would be to drink beer and watch tv, but since I don't have a tv I have developed an interest for photography, travels and sports such as swimming, running, skydiving and (very loosely) surfing. Since I don't have a car I have also developed an interest for rollerskating, trekking and (very loosely) piloting.
