My Research Interests

I am interested in marine biogeochemistry, specifically in coastal environments with a focus on the effects of nutrient pollution. I participated to several projects to study the mechanisms controlling hypoxia in the northern Gulf of Mexico (Mississippi River plume) and the East China Sea (Changjiang plume). My current work is located in the Northwest Atlantic (NWA) with the NWA biological carbon pump project and the Bedford Basin ocean alkalinity enhancement project. For each project we develop and use a coupled circulation-biogeochemical regional model.

My PhD at Dalhousie University was focused on the relationship between plankton variability and summer upwelling events in Lunenburg Bay—an inlet of the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia—using a mix of in-situ measurements and models.

Other Interests

In an ideal world my hobby would be to drink beer and watch tv, but since I don't have a tv I have developed an interest for photography, travels and sports such as swimming, running, skydiving and (very loosely) surfing. Since I don't have a car I have also developed an interest for rollerskating, trekking and (very loosely) piloting.
