My Research Interests
I spend most of time trying to apply cutting-edge and high-level oceanographic tools into the field of aquaculture of bivalves (i.e. mussels, clams, scallops, etc). I find the conversion of "free" phytoplankton into marketable shellfish a clever way to produce protein and omega-3 fatty acids for humans. I believe the industrial production of bivalves (which is currently under exponential growth), will play a key role in human nourishment in the future. Therefore I decided to dedicate my professional efforts to develop tools and techniques to guide the expansion of the bivalve aquaculture industry on a path of environmental sustainability.
